Goa CRZ issue: Jairam Ramesh to meet Goan fishermen

Union Minister for Environment and Forest Jairam Ramesh will arrive in Goa on Sunday (August 30) on a day’s visit to initiate public interaction with fishermen community on Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) related issues. Ramesh on his arrival at 6.30 am on Sunday will be received by Chief Minister Digambar Kamat and State Minister for Environment Aleixo Sequeira, an official release said.

At 7.55 am, the Union Minister along with Kamat and Sequeira will undertake site visit to Khariwada and Katiem Baina and also have interactions with fishermen habitants. Around 10.45 am they will visit fishermen habitants at Agonda in Canacona followed by interaction with fishermen inhabitants at 11.30 am in Talpona, also in Canacona.

Ramesh will have a public consultation meeting/interaction with fishermen community on CRZ related issues from 2.30 pm to 5pm at Fr Agnel Educational Complex (Agnel Ashram), Verna, it said. The Union Minister will have a press briefing after public interaction at Verna. Earlier at 2.20 pm the union minister will plant a tree at the complex. The union minister will have interaction with Goa Pradesh Congress Committee office bearers at 6.00 pm at Cidade de Goa.

Chief minister Digambar Kamat will host a dinner to the visiting dignitary in the evening, the release said. The minister will depart to Delhi on August 31, 2009 morning, it said.
