Goan filmmaker Laxmikant Shetgaonkar’s film ‘Poltodcho Munis’ which drew rave reviews at the Toronto Film Festival is set to compete with foreign films in the competition section of the International Film Festival of India.
The Konkani film produced by National Films Division Corporation Ltd. and directed by Shetgaonkar, is among the two Indian entries for the competition section, Directorate of Film Festivals (DFF)sources said.
Shetgaonkar’s movie will compete with films from Asia, Asia Pacific, Africa and Latin America in the festival which begins here on November 23.
‘Poltodcho Munis’, a story on the life of a forest guard living on Goa-Karnataka border, is also likely to be the inaugural film for Indian Panorama section of IFFI.
The 93-minute film was awarded International Federation of Film critics award for ‘New Discovery’ at the Toronto International Film Festival and Goa government had honoured Shetgaonkar for his achievement.
