Margao Goa blast case be referred to National Investigation Agency

Mr. Shantaram Naik M.P. has demanded that the investigation with respect to Margao blast in Goa on 16th October 2009, and all the matters with respect to the activities of Sanathan Saunstha be referred by the Central government to the National Investigation Agency, which has been recently constituted under National Investigation Agency Act, 2008.

Mr. Naik addressing a press conference at Margao, today, said that since the offences related to the Margao blast are linked to Sanathan Saunstha having its headquarters in Ramnathi Goa and, branches spread over in Panvel, Maharashtra, and other branches, outside India, at Malbourne and Brisbane in Australia, Toronto in Canada, United Arab Emirates in Dubai, United Kingdom and United States, it is advisable that a newly formed National Agency investigates into the matter.

Mr. Naik said that officers of the agency have got vast powers throughout India and they can exercise any of the powers of the officer in-charge of any police station in the country.

Mr. Naik said that the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, is one of the laws under which offences committed, can be entrusted to the agency by the Central Government.

Mr. Naik said that Goa Police, no doubt, are doing their job efficiently and meticulously, however, magnitude of offences which are needed to be investigated are so vast that it will be difficult for the Goa Police personnel to do justice in the matter.

Mr. Naik said referring to the matter of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is another alternative but since the central government has created this new agency, after the terrorist attack on Mumbai, the NIA will be the best agency to bring the culprit to the books.

Mr. Naik said that the writings, utterances and statements of the leaders of Sanathan Saunstha are horrible in nature and that the offences committed by the Saunstha and its leaders attract provisions of Sections 153A, 153B, 120B, 295A, 298, 384, 404, 417, 465, 508 of Indian Penal Code besides other economic offences.

Mr. Naik said that one of the leaders, as recently as on 01st March 2008, said in a statement appealing to Hindus that there is no alternative to Hindus then to follow terrorists and naxalites.

The same leader next day issued another statement saying that there will be a Dharmakranti in a country and that they will not destroy public property like railways, buses or TV towers which political leaders do, but that they will liquidate the leaders of political parties themselves.

Mr Naik said that there are outfits in the country which are openly anti-national but Sanatan Sanstha disguises itself as a nationalist organization but their acts are all anti-national even to the extent of attracting offence under section 124A of Indian Penal Code.
