The country can be strong only when Indian women become strong, educated and develop all round, said the Chief Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat on Sunday. Speaking at the Karnataka Goa Pradesh Maheshwari Sabha organised by the Belgaum Goa Sayukt Zilla Maheshwari Sabha at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, Mr Kamat said that the vision of the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh was thatit would achieve a status of a powerful nation by 2020.

But one of the main criteria was for women to develop, he said adding that it was important that they be strong so that they could provide a good education to their children nee youth and this was another criteria for the country to achieve its place in the world – as a powerful nation.
Also present for this one-day convention were the Maheshwari Sabha All India president, Mr Rampal Soni, vice-president, Mr Gokul Lada, president of Belgaum Goa Sayukt Zilla Maheshwari Sabha, Mr Kishore Kallu, Ms Asha Kamat among others.
