Residents of Curti village will be losing residential and commercial establishments worth crores of rupees if the proposed alignment of National Highway-4, Belgaum to Panaji, passing through Curti Village is implemented.
A delegation led by Shri Kamlakant Parab met Shri Shantaram Naik M.P. on Tuesday, at his residence in Margao, and requested him to intervene in the matter.
The delegation told Mr. Naik that the alignment of NH-4 passing through the village of Curti will destroy minimum 79 flats and 51 commercial establishments in the main area besides the loss of property in some other areas.
The delegation said that the alignment prepared in 2006 was the best geometrical alignment and, if implemented, would have caused minimum losses.
The delegation also told Mr. Naik that if the width of the alignment is reduced from 60 meters to 45 meters with appropriate height to the proposed over bridge, 90% of the losses can be avoided.
Mr. Naik assured the delegation that he would take up the matter, both with central government and also with the state government, requesting them to deal with the problems of persons displaced on account of the alignment, with a human angle.
