The district administration today revoked the No Objection Certificate (NOC) granted to a music festival at Agonda beach in south Goa fearing possible use of banned substances, a day after Chief Minister Digamber Kamat ordered an inquiry into the event.
Deputy Collector (Canacona) Deepak Desai told PTI that the order revoking NOC granted to the festival organiser has been issued after going through police report.
The three-day long ‘Chakraview’ festival, scheduled from February 5, was planned at Butterfly beach in Agonda village (Canacona) to create awareness on environment.
The locals, including BJP legislator Vijay Pai Khot, had opposed the event fearing use of drugs.
Kamat had ordered inquiry into the event through district administration taking cognisance of media reports.
Desai said that there was every possibility that the festival may disturb law and order in the locality.
