Mr. Shantaram Naik M.P. said that Goa University has to be strengthened as, it is our own institution, our own child, which requires help, and said that, he will do his best to use his good offices with all those who matter,for the purpose
Mr. Naik who was the Chief Guest at the seminar organized by Department of Hindi of Goa University on the subject of, "Cultural Glimpses in Indian Literature", said that he will try to push all the issues relating to Goa University pending with the University Grants Commission and the State government , so that, the university is able to perform better with additional resources, which, the university needs badly.
Mr. Naik said that the principle of secularism is a part of our culture and that it has to be made known to the students unambiguously by the teachers who impart knowledge.
Goans have retained its culture despite 450 years of Portuguese rule , which is praiseworthy.
Mr. Naik added that scientific temper must be inculcated in the minds of students, and that, superstitious belief should be totally eradicated from the society.
Mr. Naik regretted that politicians irrespective of their political affiliations practice superstitious rituals which is harming the new young generation.
Vice Chancellor Shri Dilip Deobagkar, said that our culture is strongly linked to the literature and that the culture can be properly understood only through a thorough study of the literary work of eminent writers.
Professor Kamata Prasad Tiwari and Professor Shripad Bhat traced the history of the culture of 6000 years and threw light on various aspects of culture vis-à-vis Indian Literature.
