22 Allegations are being investigated by CBI against Parrikar

Union Minister of State in the office of Prime Minister, Shri Prithviraj Chauhan informed Mr. Shantaram Naik in a written reply to an Unstarred Question in the Rajya Sabha today that as many as 22 allegations are being investigated by CBI against Shri Manohar Parrikar, Ex-Chief Minister, Goa and others in the matter of Goa Film Festival 2004.

Minister further informed Mr. Naik that a case is registered under No. RC15(A)/07-CBI/Mumbai dated 19.04.2007 under sections 409, 421, 423, 431, 432, 463, 468, 471 & 120B of Indian Penal Code and Sec 10 & 12 of the Prevention Corruption Act 1988

Shri Chauhan informed Mr. Naik that no definite time frame can be stipulated at this stage for filing of charge sheet.

Answering a query of Mr. Naik regarding the delay in filing the charge sheet, Mr. Chauhan said that the case involves as many as 22 allegations requiring collection of voluminous documents of various departments, examination of a large number of witnesses and suspects including contractors, consultants and officials of the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC), which was the nodal agency for International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2004 project.

The case involves also recording of statements of the Entertainment Society of Goa, Senior Officers of Government of Goa and Members of various committees, Minister said.

Mr. Chauhan further informed Mr. Naik that projects undertaken during IFFI 2004 are also required to be inspected by various Technical authorities / bodies.

Further, the investigation is to be conducted in Goa, Mumbai, Delhi, Bangaluru and other places which needs time, Mr. Chauhan informed Mr. Naik.
