Goa’s Speaker of Legislative assembly Pratapsingh Rane today expressed his dissatisfaction over Goa’s image being portrayed as drug heaven outside due to prevalence of narcotic trade in state’s tourism belt.
Rane, the longest serving chief minister of the state, also adviced Chief Minister Digamber Kamat to take non government organizations into confidence while destroying the drugs so that it is not pushed back into the market.
“Who supervises this destruction of drugs? We need at last two to three NGOs at the time of destruction so that it is not pushed back in the market,” Rane, former Goa chief minister, said participating in a seminar on media at International Centre DonaPaula.
He said that Goa’s image has been maligned to a great extend globally due to drug trade in the tourism belt.
