The four day Plate ‘A’ Ranji Trophy league match between host Goa and Assam which was marred by rains ended in a draw at the MCC ground, Margao, here today.
After unseasonal rains washed out the first three days, play started today at 11am. Goa who won the toss put the visitors to bat who made 177 for 5 in 64 overs before play ended.
With no result forthcoming, umpires decided to call off play before the mandatory overs were bowled after consulting both the captains. The highlight of the match was a half century by opener Dheeraj Jadhav who made 57, shared a third wicket partnership of 100 runs with Amol Majumbar(44).
Both the teams earned one points each for the draw. Goa took its tally to four points from two matches. While Assam opened an account after two matches.
