Shantaram Naik M.P. and Secretary All India Congress Committee has appealed to be the members of muslim minorities to enroll themselves as members of Indian National Congress and participate in the partys elections scheduled to be held in the beginning of next year.
Mr Naik who was addressing as Chief Guest at a function organized by Goa Minorities Department of All India Congress Committee to celebrate the birth anniversary of greate freedom fighter Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad at Vasco on Wednesday said that elections will be held in 1339 booths in Goa and further for the Block Congress Committes, District Congress Committees Pradesh Congress Committee and AICC.
Mr Naik said that Congress Party has to restore the same honour and respect to the Congress members, which they enjoyed when the membership fee was four annas.
Mr Naik said that Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad was the first education minister in Union Cabinet and held the portfolio for eleven years and as such the foundation of education system in India was laid down by Azad.
Mr Naik said late Shri Azad held the post of President of Indian National Congress for six years.
Mr Naik said that muslims must get due consideration in Government jobs and that, they must also be duly considered for government loan by banking and other institutions.
Mr Naik said that he will raise the issue of shifting oil tanks from highly populated area in vaso to some other place will be taken up with the Petroleum Ministry in case the oil company resist the District Magistrates order.
At the outset the President of Goa Minority Department and President of Mormugao Municipal Council, Shri Saifullah Khan gave welcome speech.
Shri David Trinidade, Senior Congress Member, Shri Waman Chodankar, President of Vasco Block Congresss Committee, Nitin Chopdekar, President of Mormugao Block Congress Committee, and Smt Anita Chopdekar also addressed the meeting.
Shri Imran Shaikh compered the proceedings of the meeting.
A numbers of senior congress workers were falicitated on this occasion at the hands of Shri Naik.
