A doctor from Goa medical college and hospital was suspended for dereliction of duty. Dr Manisha Audi from biochemistry department was issued a suspension order by the state government for failing to obey her head of department’s order and going on casual leave, while she was asked to sign the biochemistry test reports.
“The head of department of Biochemistry department and I had a meeting during which I was informed that Dr Audi had refused to sign the reports and after taking CL had left the college. We can’t tolerate such indiscipline and so we have suspended her. Now we will initiate disciplinary action against her,” said health minister Vishwajeet Rane.
“It is essential that the biochemistry reports have to be signed by a doctor. But we found that they are only signed by a technician. So as per instructions, the HoD asked Dr Audi to sign the reports but she refused,” Rane added.
However, sources said that there was no written order issued asking Dr Audi to sign the reports and that she is being made a scapegoat.
