Shantaram Naik demands ban on Sanatan Sanstha in Goa

Mr. Shantaram Naik M.P. has demanded, in the Rajya Sabha today, imposition of a ban on Sanatan Sanstha, under section-3 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.

Making a submission being Zero Hour Mr. Naik said that there is an institution called Sanatan Sanstha working in Goa for the last more than 15 years for propagating , according to the institution , scientific spirituality, however, in the name of preaching spirituality, propagates an hidden agenda of communal hatred and violence to achieve its sectarian objectives.

Mr. Naik further said that the institution has its headquarter in Goa and branches in other places including four braches in foreign countries; they have a website and a newspaper which publish material which no secular minded Indian can digest.

On the eve of diwali, a bomb blast occurred in the town of Margao, persons who were carrying explosives were injured ,who subsequently, succumbed to their injuries, and that, Mr. Naik said that these persons were subsequently found to be members of Sanatan Sanstha and police found ample evidence to link the blast with Sanatan Sanstha.

This institution has misguided thousands of innocent hindu ladies in the name of spirituality and families life of many households is in shambles, Mr. Naik said.

Several intellectuals and forums of common citizens, including a vast group of residence of village Ramnathi where the institution has its headquarters, have come out to demand a ban on this institution, Mr. Naik remarked.

Mr. Naik also said that the institution has amassed huge wealth with respect to which Enforcement Directorate and other revenue authorities should make necessary investigation before the evidence gets destroyed.

While the investigations with respect to Margao blast may take some time, the police has to file charge sheets based on the writings of this institution published through their newspaper, website and other printed material

Each of these material, is enough to file minimum 100 charge sheets against the institution under various sections of Indian Penal Code, Mr. Naik said.

Mr. Naik also demanded that Malegao connections of this institution is also required to be investigated.

Several intellectuals and forums of common citizens, including a vast group of residence of village Ramnathi where the institution has its headquarters, have come out to demand a ban on this institution, Mr. Naik said.

It is most unfortunate that the main opposition party in Goa, namely, BJP although has formally condemned the bomb blast, they have come out in open support of this institution as if it is one of their frontal organization, Mr. Naik added.

As soon as Mr. Naik finished his submission Shri Rajiv Pratap Rudy, BJP M.P. and some other BJP M.Ps. strongly objected to the contention of Mr. Naik that BJP is supporting Sanatan Sanstha.
