Goa Minister Atanasio Monserratte set to join Congress

The Congress in Goa is all set to welcome Education Minister Atanasio Monserratte, whose supporters had allegedly attacked Youth Congress activists when they were holding street demonstrations. Monserratte was last year expelled from the United Goans Democratic Party (UGDP) and is presently serving as its unattached member in the Goa Assembly.

Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president Subhash Shirodkar today confirmed that Monserratte will be inducted into the party. “We have no intimation of when he will be inducted but his entry will be unconditional,” he told reporters.

When reminded that Monserratte?s supporters had allegedly attacked Goa Pradesh Youth Congress Committee (GPYCC) activists, Shirodkar said “everyone needs to be given fair chance. If someone does something that does not mean he will continue doing it lifelong.” “There are no demands from his side.
