Goa MP urges centre to investigate 3 ‘mysterious’ explosions

Mr. Shantaram Naik, Rajya Sabha Member from Goa has, through a fax message requested the Indian Home Minister Shri P. Chidambaram, to send, urgently, a team of experts in Goa to solve the mystery of the three explosions which took place off the coast of Canacona Taluka in South Goa District on 10th February 2010. Mr. Naik has said that these explosions should not be overlooked in view of the bomb blast by terrorists in Pune on Saturday, and further said that since Goa has been one of the prime targets of terrorists for sometimes now, investigations have to be done whether the explosions were the result of targets missed by the terrorists.

Mr. Naik has said that it is surprising that no agency in Goa has been able to throw any light on the mysterious blasts and has added that Sea Bird Project of Defence Ministry in North Kanara District adjacent to Canacaona Taluka of Goa being a sensitive area, the Defence Ministry also has to take the incident seriously.

In a statement issued today Mr Naik has said that if the blasts are a part of tests done by Sea Bird project authorities, the same should disclosed at least now, as otherwise, everytime such blasts occur we will remain under impression that they are a part of Sea Bird exercise like in the shepherd and fox story and, when the terrorists strike us, we will have had it. Mr. Naik has also sent a copy of his letter to the Union Defence Minister Shri A.K.Antony.
