RP-2021 to be finalised in 6 months, Goa CM assures GBA

The convenor of the Goa Bachao Abhiyan, Dr Sabina Martins on Thursday said the Chief Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat has assured a delegation of the Abhiyan that the Regional Plan 2021 would be finalised in next six months. Addressing reporters after a meeting with the Chief Minister at his official residence late Thursday evening, Dr Martins also said that Mr Kamat promised the delegation to release the finalised plans of taluka every month and display them in panchayat offices for information and scrutiny of the general public.

She informed that Mr Kamat also assured the delegation that no-objections certificates issued for construction in various parts of the state would be revoked in case the licencees were found to have violated the stipulated conditions mentioned in the NOC. However, the delegation was told that these cases would be studied individually in case they were brought to the notice of the government. Stating that as regards to the demand of GBA to stop issuance of the NOCs or permissions for land-filling, hill-cutting and development on hill slopes, fields, water bodies and mangroves in eco-sensitive zones, she said the Chief Minister has assured to convene a meeting of the Town and Country Planning Board and issue directions to the authorities to stop issuing licences.
