Shantaram Naik ,MP,Goa inaugurats community hall

Mr. Shantaram Naik M.P. inaugurating a community hall at Balli, buitat the cost of 47 lakhs, under MPLAD Scheme, said that since the commencement of the scheme in 1993, projects worth 1310 crores have been commissioned through the country, and that, credit goes to the Congress government at the centre which started the scheme.

Mr. Naik said that the land for the project was gifted by Shri Shantadurga Ballikaran Saunsthan to the V.P. Balli-Adnem, so that the people of Balli, Adnem and surrounding areas could take benefit of the hall.

Mr. Naik said peoples' participation in democracy is not now restricted to sending their representatives but people expect that the be consulted by their elected representatives from time to time.

Mr. Naik said that at Panchayat level, this is possible through the institutions of Gram Sabha but at Parliament and Assembly level,elected representatives can undertake the exercise of consultation
only to a limited extent.

MLA of Quepem Shri Babu Kavlekar praised Mr. Naik for giving a huge hall to the Panchayat for which people will remember Mr. Naik for generations together, he said. Shri Govind Phal Desai, Sarpanch of Village Panchayat of Adnem, Balli

Shri Sandeep Phal Desai said that the people of Adnem-Balli, were fortunate that Mr. Shantaram Naik was elected to the Rajya Sabha , as otherwise, he said, they would never have got such a marvelous hall.
