There is no court order to restrain government from denotifying SEZs –Shantaram Naik

Mr. Shantaram Naik M.P. has said that there is no order restraining the Government of India from de-notifying the three Special Economic Zones , which the Government of Goa, has requested to be de-notified. Addressing a press conference in Congress House Pnanaji today,, Mr. Naik said recently when reply was given to him in the Rajya Sabha that the issue of SEZ is sub-judice, , he met the Union Commerce Minister Shri Anand Sharma, and told him that the central government is free to denotify the three SEZs, and just because a matter is sub-judice, if is presumed that the government is restrained from going ahead with the process of denotification, then government of India's functioning can be paralysed by mere filing of petitions.

Mr. Naik said that Mr. Sharma has assured him to call a meeting of Goa CM and Chief Secretary in this connection to resolve the issue. Mr. Naik said tha he has submitted a copy of three memorandums submitted by him to the Prime Minister demanding Special Provisions, Special Category and Separate Cadre, to the Chief Minsiter of Goa Shri Digambar kamat in Secretariat, today. He has requested the State Government to pursue the issues before the Central Government.

Refering to Sanatan activities, Mr Naik said the Minsitry of Home Afairs, New Delhi is williig to consider banning of Sanathan institution , if the proposal to that effect is sent by the Government of Goa to the Ministry of Home Affairs. Mr. Naik said that he got this impression after meeting the Home Minister Shri P. Chidambaram in New Delhi recently.

Mr. Naik said that the Home Minsiter told him that investigation being done by National Investigation Agency is on the right track and that the culprits will be booked soon. Mr. Naik further said that he has requested the Chief Minsiter to write to the Minister of Environment and Forest Shri Jairam Ramesh to examine minutely Mhadei Project in view of Bhimgad being declared as Wildlife Sanctuary.
